Lui gorge

An overnight trip to Braemar to mark our 45th wedding anniversary.
We arrived late morning and walked up to Derry Lodge for our picnic lunch on a damp day with low cloud. It's an easy walk with time to enjoy all the wild flowers and avoid a very dark toad.
On the way back it started raining properly but, undeterred, we took a path we've always meant to explore but have been too tired after a long walk in the hills. It follows the River Lui which goes through a small gorge and these rocky bits, worth the short extra.
Then a short drive to dry out a bit before going to our hotel where we watched the end of the Tour de France stage, quite exciting and views of places we'd been to.
We had our evening meal in the hotel (watching a hedgehog just outside) then a stroll round the village as the rain had stopped.
Comfy 4-poster bed.
