pinot john

Spent a couple of hours wine tasting in the valley land of Bickley and Carmel and after some very tasty, and left field, tastings at a tiny vineyard growing mourvedre, verdehlo, petit verdot as well as 'the usuals' it was off to 3000 vines of purely pinot noir.

This is John who cleared his two acres of water hungry orchards and planted vines many years ago and in the little cellar beneath his house offers a tasting of the last ten years of their pinot noirs.
And how incredibly different they are and so interesting to taste and learn about the different micro climate conditions that existed in the valley in each season.

The gandalf of the grape??
