Sporangia

Goodness it’s hot today.

A visit to Risley Moss this morning. Everything is seeding, it’s that time of year. There were dragonflies and damselflies, speckled wood butterflies, and a mallard duck with nine little ducklings - presumably a second brood.

But as it’s “abstract Thursday” and the theme is repetition I’ve chosen this image of the underside of a fern leaf. Each of the sporangia will contain lots of spores, to be distributed by the wind when the time is right. And from those few that find the right place, a new fern will eventually develop.
