Birthday girl - you just have to smile a little, Mum...

As it was my mother's birthday today, I headed home to the town village hamlet in the Upper Bavarian countryside, where I grew up and lived for the first 20 or so years of my life. It was one of the worst days to drive a car, because we had a veritable snow storm, but being a good boy I decided to go anyway.

As a recompense for exposing myself to the risk involved my Mum allowed me to take a photo of her. And this really is kind of a reward as she normally deeply disapproves of photographs of her. So this is her in our dining room. Also, this is rather special for me too, as I normally don't do portraity stuff.
