Battle field...

Colloden. Where the Jacobites supporters of Bonny Prince Charlie were horribly defeated in 1746 by the kings troops. The battle lasted less than an hour and the massacre was terrible. Terrible consequences too of highland clearances where people were viewed as of less value than sheep and all family ties were disallowed.

We visited here en route to the airport today. Another overcast day which actually suited the solemnity of the visit. Soon this field will be full of colour as the heather blossoms and wild flowers bloom.

We’re back home and it’s been a good few days away. Grateful for the opportunity to travel and for every evidence of restrictions still being followed.
