Resistance

On June 1, 2016, the Alternative International Olympic Committee made the decision to add a new sport to the 2021 Alternative Olympic Games. It approved the addition of Resistance.

Certainly, there has been some buzz and excitement about this new addition and today's viewing did not disappoint.

Resistance debuts as one of the most diverse sports in the 2021 Olympic field with the game open to all age groups, flying species and genders.  The sport is not a matter simply of physical strength but also of mental grit and in that respect, is possibly the most difficult event to enter the Olympics in recent times.

Athletes must abstain from their main food source for a period of 24 hours prior to their heat (this is strictly monitored).  On the day, competitors are signalled to dive into that food source for exactly 15 seconds and then retreat above to twice their body height.  And there they must stay for as long as they can.  They will be testing their wing strength and, crucially, their ability to resist temptation.

This early round saw Hannah, in her heat, smash the other contenders in her category (thankfully, because photography was not easy today).  In the next round, she faces her opponent head-to-head, literally, in the air above the echinaceas.

We can't wait!
