Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Oi!

JR went to the gym, as per usual, and I did the washing, got it hung out in the sunshine, and by that time, Robert arrived to take Archie out. Maggie arrived too, with her dad, and they all set off. Maggie’s mum, Jan then came for a coffee when the coast was clear, and the welcome was quiet (NO barking).

She was having another wee check out of the facilities, as she’s going to be here next week looking after the house and Archie. Maggie is coming to stay too. We are going off on a jaunt.

Once Jan had departed, I popped to Uncle A’s flat to sort a few things.

And that was the sum total of the day’s activities. The sunshine in the morning did not survive to the afternoon, so any outside plans were abandoned, and we both settled on our respective sofas for the afternoon, scoffing a birthday box of chocs. Some cricket was watched (me) while JR started her new book - Sophie Grigson’s   ‘A Curious Absence of Chickens’ - where she sells up in England, drives off to Puglia with all her belongings in her wee car, and starts a new life, aged 60, in Southern Italy. Sounds brilliant. With recipes. It’s an area we’d love to go to some day…

Archie always checks in the bin to see if he can reach any tissues. If I shout ‘Oi!’ he stands stock still until he thinks I’m not watching him any more, then just carries on poking about.
