Southgate (but not Gareth)

I made the most of being overnight in London after our brilliant photographic society meeting yesterday evening to get up early and explore the 1933 extension to the Piccadilly Line.  There are 8 stations designed by Charles Holden in the "Streamline Moderne" style.  They are all variations of a brick and glass square, oval or circular box with a concrete roof.  They've been much altered over the years, but Southgate has retained its wonderful escalator with bronze uplighters.  The huge column you can see at the top of the escalators holds up the circular roof over the concourse.
