Raggedy Swallowtail

We had a couple of butterflies trapped under our awning this afternoon.  After a brief photo session I was able to show them the way to freedom and off they flew.  We were surprised this one could fly as well as he did considering the tattered left wing.  Guess he somehow avoided a bird.

The extra is an intact specimen that was kind enough to sit for a photo as well.
