If you can't beat them...

Tin Man.

We got a good start for our trip down to Sheffield.  Everything went well until we were nearly at the Meadowhall turn off.  Then we hit standing traffic.  From there until about half a mile before we turned off at the next exit we moved in a stop start line.  I expected to come across an accident or broken down car.  Fortunately nothing so dramatic merely that they had decided to take one lane out of use at the height of the holiday season!

The afternoon was spent BBQing and watching Daniel and Emily on their new trampoline.  After the meal Emily wanted to go on a "Scarecrow Hunt".  This had been organised by the local library, a real gem just three or four hundred yards down the road.  I took her for a walk round the nearest roads following the provided map.  There were far too many and far too spread out for this single trip.

The brief for the scarecrows had been to illustrate either the title of a children's book or a character from such a book.  This one was clearly the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz.  Every body had been very inventive and had put in lots of hard work.
