It’s coming back - and so are the bats!

As its plastic cocoon is being removed area by area, Oxburgh Hall is gradually emerging in all its new roof glory like a butterfly from its chrysalis. The bats are already back in residence - the local media reported last week that the bats tried to return but the new tiles are too smooth for them to grip to get into the roof space so the builders and conservationists had to devise a gritty coating to paint onto the new tiles in places to form a ‘bat ladder’ for them!  (When I first heard the term ‘bat ladder’ my imagination went into overdrive!)
