Preserves

A wet afternoon, so I have spent the time making chilli jam and dill pickled cucumbers. The later are quick and easy to do but the chilli jam has a number of stages and only produces a small quantity but it is delicious and a little goes a long way.
Our walk this morning was completed just before the rain started so we hope for the same good fortune tomorrow. Next week promises to be dry and warmer so one last chance of planting some seeds for a further crop.
The news from Afghanistan becomes more desperate as both British and Afghanis who served the British are left stranded and abandoned unable to get to the airport. There are also those who don't meet the criteria set by the government who have also been cast aside. What use it is it to be told that the UK will accept 20,000 refugees over the next 5 years when they are desperate now? Where is our humanity?
