Evening walk

Pete and I attended a thoroughly enjoyable and informative walk round Castor Hanglands this evening, led by Christine Reid and Justin Tilley - such a wonderful place to have so close to home. As well as learning about the history and management of the site, and what makes a good wood, we came across slime moulds, fungi and a dead mole complete with colourful Sexton Beetles, which Pete extracted and showed to everyone. The mixed scents of water-mint and corn-mint while walking across the heath was unforgettable - it was so strong I could almost taste it!
