I've Looked at Clouds...

...From Both Sides Now...

Well, from many sides actually...and "still I really don't know clouds at all!"

The sky has been an ever-changing tapestry of cloud patterns and colours today. After the thunderstorm we had before dawn, the morning sky was dark and ominous but fascinating; there was a tableau of layers of strange interlocking cloud shapes of blue-grey and gold on the horizon...I had never seen anything quite like it...."feather canyons everywhere"..  In the afternoon, as the day lightened up and the sun came and went, the clouds changed too - into fluffy "ice cream castles in the air". ( see both in extra)

Then, just before dark, the rains came again and VOILA! ....A fiery sky of brilliant orange clouds!  AND a rainbow! Those brilliant clouds just had to be my main blip and as for the rainbow?  I have run out of extras - am down to zero, so no rainbow photo...but my sister has one on her posting! ( CalicoCat)

We are leaving the cottage tomorrow morning to spend some time at home, so today's endless photo-ops seemed like a big thank you from the sun that we had been greeting and photographing each morning - a farewell performance showing us what it could do with a few clouds.. saying "Come on back and I will make it worth your while!" Well, we will be back, and will come armed with our cameras and take that old sun up on its offer!

Special thanks to Joni Mitchell and her Both Sides Now for all the images and phrases that pop into my head whenever I see wonderful cloud patterns!
