A toad disturbed in the garden

With all the clearing work Helena has been doing it wasn't surprising that some wildlife looked for new homes.

This toad was disturbed in the front garden but I managed to grab my camera before it reached the safety of a nearby hedge. It was good to find that there were toads living around us as we don't normally spot them.

When I did some strimming in the back garden recently I luckily spotted a slow worm before I hurt it. It too slithered away. I think the prevalence of neighbours' cats  is the biggest danger to slow worms.
