Diary of an Edinburgher

Lunch in town

JR had an extended bout of coughing this morning, and then, after breakfast in bed, declared that she felt better.

Elizabeth came for Archie, who, because she came in to try the new sofas, went even more crackers than usual.

We decided, because JR was feeling somewhat better, to go out for lunch. I booked the newly opened ‘The Palmerston’, which I’ve been following on Instagram.

And it was great! Very friendly staff, excellent menu, nice (though noisy) vibe. We had booked seats up at the bar, the only ones available, but we were right by a speaker, so of course I asked to move. The charming waiter sorted a table for us once some people had left.

We both had excellent meals, and very good coffees too. We’ll definitely go back there.

We also popped in to the brand new Johnny Walker Whisky Centre, though we were not allowed up to the fabulous rooftop bar without a booking, but we’ll save a visit there for another day.

So many new places to try, so little time…

There were some sights in the West End! (Extra 1) Check out JR’s dessert. (Extra 2).
