Edison Screw

The right handed screw socket for the light bulb was invented by Edison.
He was inspired by a can of kerosene in his workshop, sawed it off and saved it to make the prototype in in 1880.
It was patented in 1881 and licensed in 1909 under General Electric with the Mazda trademark.
My outdoor lights obviously don’t screw in the conventional way but clearly show the screw off perfectly.
Thanks to Laurie 54 for suggesting the themes of inventions for MonoMonday in October and to whoever volunteers to be the good fairy who will help her this week after her fall resulted in concussion.
Get well soon x
