Porcelain Fungi

A day of two halves with regard to the weather. It was a drizzly start that developed into heavy rain by lunchtime. We'd based ourselves in Martindale for the morning and slowly worked our way up the hill to the top of Hallin Fell. The second extra was taken from there.

To shelter from the rain, we took refuge in St Martin's Church.

The weather improved dramatically by the afternoon, so we moved on to the shores of Ullswater. (second extra). I did struggle to get my enthusiasm going again for a short while.

Our last stop was a small bit of beech woodland further along the lake where John spotted some beautiful porcelain fungi high up on the branches of a beech tree. A real find, and a few of us quickly set our tripods up to take a few images.
