People on a Bridge

USS Alabama Queen

I was struck by this female mannequin during our visit to the huge, decommissioned war ship, USS Alabama. The ship and the military airplane museum next door (pictured here) were drowning in testosterone. This lonely blonde reminded the world, that women, too, are a part of this picture. I wondered how she came to be there. Was it a real and genuine attempt of showcasing gender equality? Was it some half-assed attempt at political correctness? Was she representing a particular woman, somebody's family member, perhaps? Or did the curators have an extra uniform, and the only mannequin available was a female?
