Korean Garden

Today we took my mother to Halswell Quarry Park for a picnic lunch. It was another beautiful day, and suited her well as it wasn't as sunny as the last few days, but still warm and calm.

Halswell Quarry Park is a relatively new park on the edge of Christchurch, up against the Port Hills. The local stone used to be quarried here and now there is a walkway that runs along the edge of the quarry itself, and onto the Port Hills. Today we stayed on the flatter ground, more suitable for my mother's walker, and wandered through a couple of the 'Sister City' gardens. This is Seoul, the Korean garden. It wasn't very busy today, in fact the whole of Christchurch feels rather as though everyone has gone away for the weekend.
