At the northern end

About 20 Kuaka were resting on a patch of sand, soon to be covered by the incoming tide. A couple were preening and this one, plus one or two others,  were still searching for food. Between them and me was a shallow pool. Even so, they (or the nearby toreapango, oystercatchers) abruptly decided to leave. They had likely already been disturbed by the big dog which had put all the herons to flight as I came along the beach.

I had run about 500 m further north than my jogs usually take me, so I turned and went home.
