Another Languedoc year...

By SweetApricots

That's it.... DONE!

Yep, we made it. All 5000 vines pruned in less than a week, thanks to our wonderful volunteers, Linda, Peter, Shazie, Paula, and Jenny - along with Ali and I. It poured with rain for two days, but the rest of the time it was sunshine all the way. Today was jolly windy as we pruned the ancient grenache, but we didn't really need coats. Ali's just wearing the neon jacket as a talisman to ward off the rain. She was sweltering inside it.

Halfway through the pruning I popped a plump chicken in the excellent Cobb barbecue, with some parboiled spuds in the 'moat'. By the time we had finished it was beautifully roasted. The others had brought salad, bread, cherry tart and creme fraiche. We'd remembered the rosé, even if I forgot the Toulouse sausage. We had a lovely lunch sitting in the mazet annexe.

Next year anyone?
