Members' Evening

Taken in the Chambers Street Museum as we drank our coffee and ate our cake while waiting to enter the auditorium and for the talk to begin, the first live members' evening since the start of the pandemic.

We were given a run-down of the events of the past year at the four museums then a detailed description of the next exhibition opening in the summer, that of A Matter of Death and Life, recording the history of the Anatomists and, in particular, how they acquired the bodies necessary for their studies. Highly relevant to Edinburgh, I look forward to seeing that one!

The bicycles are part of a vertical display of seven, all made or assembled in Scotland. Bottom one is a 1904 Victoria, from Glasgow, the upper one is a 1905 Melvin Champion, from Alloa. If you could see the entire display, right at the top you would find a 1989 Edinburgh Contour, from Edinburgh.
