Towards the Campsies from Auchineden Hill

Auchineden Hill is part of the Kilpatrick Hills, and has wonderful all-encompassing views towards Loch Lomond, the Highlands and the Campsies. And the hill is only 10 minutes away by car from my front door. This afternoon the sunshine and clouds were perfect for photography so I headed out to sprint up the hill. It is a designated walk, and a raised walkway over the boggy ground at the foot and a stony path in the initial climb make the ascent quite easy. This peters out in due course, but it gets you to an elevated viewpoint where you can see for miles where the Lowlands meets the Highlands.

Lots of people were out today on Easter Monday, so I was able to include figures to give a sense of scale. In the shot I have posted a flock of seagulls flew into view and added an unexpected dynamism to the scene. I like the way the clumps of unmelted snow on the shadow side of the hill reflect the snow atop the Campsies and the beautiful fluffy clouds.
