Future Stars

Back in autumn 2020, collected some chestnut conkers from a tree in the forest but left them unattended in the (otherwise empty) doggy poo bag in the boot of the car all winter. In spring, discovered them happily throwing out roots, so planted them up and 12 young saplings grew. Somehow have managed to keep them growing through the summer, probably thanks to the number of rainy days.

I'm not yet happy about planting them out to fend for themselves, so am now going to put them complete with pots into the vegetable patch to overwinter. Maybe, if they survive, I can plant them out next autumn.

They are my symbolic Brexit/EU flag 12-star trees. Conkers grew in UK's last year in the EU and grew in the first year of being outside EU.
