Red sky in the morning...

... and it was a 'shepherd's warning', today: heavy rain, a temperature of 2 degrees, a blustery and icy wind.
It was my day with Frieda today, and with Richard away in Northern Ireland, I had tried to prepare carefully in order to keep it all easygoing. In the event she was quite tired, as I was after a rather broken night, and we were both quite contented with a day indoors. We made imaginary tea and snacks for the family of soft toys; we made real hot chocolate to drink together; we read a lot of story books and these sparked off some nice imaginary play. And at more weary moments, we put the TV on and enjoyed some episodes of The Octonauts.
Frieda is definitely at that stage of testing the boundaries quite emphatically: for example, getting her to put her trousers on, before Marianna was due to pick her up, involved some careful manoeuvring on my part.  Once she could perceive it as something she had opted to do herself, she was fine :-)   Much like many so-called grown-ups, really...
