Loch Awe

My original idea, amazing as it may seem, was to have three people standing in front of this view.

The three would have been Roseanna Cunningham, Minister for Community Safety (and another blipper) along with the two founders of the Loch Awe Safety Company , Iain MacKinnon & Murray Humphries , who were hosting a meeting at the Loch Awe Hotel to show Roseanna what they were doing and launch a fund raising drive to allow the charity to continue its great work and to purchase a safety boat.

The "Lochwatch" charity was set up after a number of fatalities on the loch, including the tragic drowning of four men on a fishing trip in 2009. Murray Iain and a number of other volunteers do a great job in what is a unique community venture. There are lots of signs around the 26 mile long loch urging those on the water and by the shore to wear life jackets but more profile and work is always needed.

I have been glad to support the effort and it was good that Roseanna took the time to visit and offer her backing along with local councillors, Jamie McGrigor MSP (who lives by the loch) , plus police, fire and tourist interests.

All in all it was a very productive and positive day. The views were a stunning added extra - fantastically clear though still cold.

I wonder what Roseanna will blip today though. Perhaps the Oban Whale?

(PS - Posted later....well done on the whale....)
