the wall against the wall

After a short period of being the nasty pale yellow colour most of the walls were when we moved in followed by a few years of being bright blue until December 2006 when it was stripped the south wall of the flat has had this nice natural mottled-plaster finish with I've always rather liked. It's been a handy interestingish background for a number of pictures but will hopefullyprobably be smoother, pinker and a bit less distorted by the picture-stitching process by tomorrow evening. Mr Plasterbloke managed to plasterboard and plaster the ceiling today (finishing at about eightish rather than the usual fiveish) so should hopefully be on track to finish skimming the remaining walls by the end of the week.

In order to occupy ourselves whilst the flat was filled with scaffolding we popped to Il Divo before it disappeared from the Filmhouse. As I'm not particularly up-to-speed on Italian politics of the late eighties and early nineties all but a couple of the names were new information though there were a few lines of introductory text to set the scene. Some of the major characters were introduced with well-designed heroes-style in-scene subtitles either at the start or as they appeared but when these were fighting the normal English subtitles for screen space and fighting the excellent music and well-thought-out cinematography for eye-coverage and head-bandwidth it meant something had to be dropped. It's definitely a film worth more than one viewing (and also perhaps re-editing into a single film three times the length so that it seems a little less patchy).
