At this location in 1897 quite a considerable milestone was achieved. 

This is Glen Maye on the west coast of the Island and was where one Lancelot Quayle achieved the British Isles record for the maximum production of honey from one hive of bees.  It was 334 lbs and caused quite a stir at the time.

Perhaps the time has come to apply our modern knowledge of beekeeping to see how the bees did it...
