Life is like a river

What a great idea!

We were driving home from the swimming-hall just before dinnertime when I noticed something interesting.

Looked like a few "books" had been attached to lampposts in our neighbourhood. This was something I had to take a better look at, so after we had made a delicious spicy soup for dinner (and eaten too much!) we bundled up in warm clothes and went for a little walk.

Turns out these "books" are many short abstracts from Icelandic children's books, printed on metal and fastened to lampposts. The books will be distributed all the way from the local library, Amtsbókasafnið, to Nonni's house in Aðalstræti. This project is a collaboration of The Children's Literature Center (which is is a study center for children's literature and reading at the University of Akureyri), the local library and the town of Akureyri.

And I say it again: What a great idea!! :)
