Buchanan Street station 1849 -1966

A victim of the rationalising Beeching Report this Glasgow station, one of four Glasgow terminii, was demolished in 1967 its services
transferred to Glasgow Queen Street. Seen here is A4 Pacific locomotive "Bittern" preparing to pull its train north to Aberdeen. This loco is one of six of this class still existing. It is not operational now.
Glasgow Caledonian University now occupies the site of the extinct "Caledonian Railway" station. The Station Bar still exists and there is a Buchanan Street Subway station down the hill near Queen Street.
