If you can't beat them...

You call that safe?

During Covid we have done much shopping either online or delivery by local firms.  We have got used to answering the door and a photo being taken to show it was delivered.  The Post Office has on occasions both before Covid and during left things in one of three safe places in the garden.

They excelled themselves with this one.  I was in the house, I was no further away than upstairs for a couple of minutes.  We have a doorbell a black "lump" 7 cm (nearly 3 inches) by 4 cm (1.5 inches) with a large blue circle on it.  On passing near the letterbox I saw some letters and this card.  Imagine my astonishment I had heard no knock and certainly, the bell hadn't rung, you can't miss that!

That wasn't the worst part.  The package really should not be left unless there is somebody there to collect it.  I haven't minded in the past if it was put safely in the greenhouse or one of the other places, but the doorstep!  Not only was it exposed to the weather it was in full view of anybody passing.  OK, the door is a distance from the pavement but the doorstep really isn't a safe place.

Sorry rant over.
