Whitby

Decided to take time out today and headed over to Whitby. We walked from the Abbey along the coastal path to Robin Hoods Bay. A bit father than we thought, clocked up over 20k steps, but a lovely walk under the blue sky
The tide was a long way out - we saw the scuppered remains of a concrete ship (seen in the first extra) Apparently concrete was used during the war as there was a shortage of metal
Later we walked across Rocket Post Field https://tothehills.wordpress.com/2010/06/12/20090828_rocket-post-robin-hoods-bay-cliff-tops/amp/ - a relic from the past the post was used to launch a rocket carrying a line into the sea out to stricken vessels
Didn’t quite get our timings right, we were later and waited longer for the bus to get back to Whitby than expected so it was almost dark by the time we got back to the Abbey, but we caught the last of the light
First curlews of the year and a small flock of oystercatchers were lovely to see
Hope you are enjoying your weekend
