Reunion

Haven’t see these two since Christmas so with the rugby on we decided to head to Kelso to share the day with them.
Sadly my stepfather fails further and although his terminally diagnosed cancer back in May hasn’t shown face or pain yet, his depression is leaching from every pore and makes for very difficult company. His current paranoia is topically the heating bills. He used to have the heating in full blast 365 days a year but now refuses to have it on. So a rather desolate feeling house we entered and ending up all putting our coats back on as he wouldn’t let us put the fire on. There is no answer as he has no capacity to reason so sits glaring at us all so best not to conflict. All very sad as my mum and he found each other late in life so to see their last days together so grim is difficult to witness.
Anyhoo
A nice lunch, rugby, lots of tea and cakes then we all went out for a pre birthday dinner at The Contented Vine which is set in a converted church, converted cinema.Food was excellent though the acoustics and ebullient crowd made it noisy for the three deaf folk in our party
A nice day and one to reconnect with my mum who’s been a tad distant, caught up in yet another twist in her genealogy tale.
