Cross-stitch symmetry

I was given a sideboard runner with a cross-stiched flower motif repeated about 20 times on a fine linen.. I was convinced that it was machine stitched because the stitching was perfect and identical. However, when looking on the reverse side, each motif has a different layout of stitches proving that it was hand-stitched. QED! I've shown one example of the front then the back.
I no longer have the patience or eyesight to do fine embroidery but I admire the craftmanship (are we allowed to say that now)  in others' work.
