Curtain rings

We have embarked on a dusty, wet cement journey with a few aspects of the kitchen being renovated.

Heavy curtains had to come down which forced me to have a closer look at the condition of the drapes after XX years.
What I saw, I knew all along but refused to admit that it needed attention.
Hoping the problem would go away. No such luck.
Now, there is no escape and I have to confront the state they are in.

So far I have washed and ironed a section, but I dread the remaining lot.
I think I will need a crane to lift the heavy wet mass in order to get it to the washing line.

I am still contemplating my next move ...!!!!
