Shoe Tree

As it was a lovely day we decided that we would go to Bishop’s Stortford to get some shopping, have lunch and a walk to take photographs. We did all of those things and today’s picture is of a tree with pairs of shoes dangling from it; maybe they belong to Luna!

We decided not to catch the 1414 hours train home so we could have another cup of tea, so we went to catch the 1514 hours train; a big mistake! The train duly arrived and left on time only to stop just outside Bishop's Stortford. The driver then announced that we would have to go slowly as they had received a report that the line ahead was damaged. After a few minutes of slow travel we stopped. Eventually we were told the rail was broken and we would be taken back to Bishop's Stortford. This happened and then there was chaos. They said they would be organising buses, but it would be a while and none had arrived by 1700 hours. Quotations for taxis to Newport were £55 and someone had been quoted £60. The last time I used a taxi from Bishop's Stortford it was £20, but I suppose the increased fuel costs have to be taken into consideration. There were no taxis available as people were ordering them so that when they arrived they had already been booked. In the end I rang my son-in-law and asked him to collect us. I should have done that in the first place, but hate to ask. He collected us and another person who lives in the village and with whom we were originally going to share a taxi. We arrived home just before 1800 hours. We did not find out exactly what the problem was as the train app stated that trains were cancelled, for an undisclosed reason.

Noon Today – Twelve degrees Celsius.
