Seventy Eight

Backblip.

When your favourite pop band take on a mini tour with an orchestra to accompany them, you just have to try and make it to a show.

Go West organised this a couple of years ago and then, well, covid. We were originally going to see them at The Cliffs Pavilion in Southend and take Bessie the motorhome for a weekend at the Essex seaside. A few pandemic postponements meant the final new date ended up being midweek and we couldn't work being able to attend :(

The ticket company were amazing and refunded me in full and we were able to change the contact schedule with the stepkids and have a weekend in Birmingham. Got a Travelodge room and overnight parking space not far from the venue and it's the best weekend we've had in a while. Leaving all the stress of "real" life at home for 36 hours :)

Too late to get the best seats but the sound in the venue, Birmingham Symphony Hall, was exceptional.

Fellow 80s band Cutting Crew were the support act and also had the South Bank Sinfonia providing that extra special dimension to their performance.

A bloody great night!
