A Very Special Mother’s Day

We had a lazy start to the day in light of the clocks going forward, and after breakfast I drove to meet Rachel to hand over the girls. Rach had forgotten about the clocks lol!

Alan and I had a booking to see mum at 1pm, so I phoned the care home to see how she was and asked if there was any chance we could take her out. Thankfully she was a bit brighter, and although her mobility isn’t great, the carers got her ready and into the wheelchair.

Bearing in mind she went into hospital on 2nd December and then to the care home on 22nd December, she hasn’t seen the outside world in a long time. She also had no concept as to where she’s living, and as soon as we came out she could see the sea and her face lit up! She kept saying how wonderful it was and that she was thrilled to be out.

We walked along the prom and after about 30 mins turned round and walked back. We sat in a bench on the seafront and I went and got ice creams for us all.

When we got back to the home it was apparent mum was wiped out - probably all the fresh air! So once she was settled we left and went home and sat in the garden while the Sunday roast was cooking.

Tonight I’ve watched the final of Dancing on Ice - it was a good result!

Happy Mother’s Day, hope you’ve had a good one!
