Vega

We are en route to the Vega Field. To be true; Vega is not visible, it is a sub sea satellite field for the Gjoa Field 30 kilometre to the East. The floating Gjoa platform is the spider in the web. The satellites are connected with pipelines to the Gjoa platform. On this platform the oil and gas will be processed and transported to the shore. Our job this time is to install the three sub sea structures (templates) needed to get the oil and gas out of the reservoir and transport it to the Gjoa Platform. If you look to the Starboard side of the Thialf underneath the big crane, you can see a small piece of such a (yellow) structure. Sub sea development projects are very expensive. The whole Gjoa project needed an investment of almost six billion dollar. If you want to read more about this subsea development, click this link
