NOIR ROSETTES

Our garden is freezing cold today. + 4 C, but the wind makes it goes through my bones!

Everyday I look after small sign for life. I planted these House leak / sempervivum "Noir" last autumn and happy to see they have survived the hard and (too) long winter.
Decorative rosettes that only bloom once in June/July and then die, but the plant continues to live through the new sets of rosettes.

House leak was in earlier times planted at the roof to prevent fire. The small perennial forms a blanket that protects the roof from sparks from the chimney, lightning or enemies with flaming arrows. The German Emperor Karl ordered that all houses should have house leak on the roof.

A very good Sunday to you all :-)
