Green Carpet

My favourite time of the year in Lickey Woods is early May when bluebells carpet the woods.

There has been very little colour in the woods since the autumn. There was plenty of white during several periods of snow, but otherwise it has been shades of brown and grey with just a touch of dark green of the conifers.

Today however, it really struck me how bright and colourful it looked, and it was the emerging bluebells that had made all the difference. Now I am looking forward to this green carpet turning to blue. Hopefully it will look like this in a couple of weeks time.
