Seriously?

Classic

This morning Erin, Karen and I went to see the Calligraphy and Ottoman antique book and document collection at the Sabanci Museum in Emirgan. First however, like many people do on a Sunday morning, we fortified oursleves at a nearby Café with a delicious Turkish breakfast. Menemen (scrambled eggs with peppers, onions and tomatoes) white cheese, cucumber and tomatoes in olive oil and lemon, various breads including simit (bagel with sesame seeds), pitta bread and brown olive bread + honey and Kaymak (kind of heavy clotted cream). Blood sugar levels soaring, we then had a lovely and leisurely couple of hours+ looking at the exquisite exhibits of this beautiful Ottoman art. Unfortunately, a flat camera battery meant that the only image I managed to take was this snap of the Sultan's signature over the café's doorway. Classic.

Istanbul today was: Grismal and overcast; 14ºC; wind 13mph NE
