All flailing arms

After a morning strolling around the city, our resident guide met us for a bite of lunch before we took in some sights this afternoon. A platter of sushi, tempura, soup and a steamed custard and fish pudding later (served with complimentary green tea as per usual) filled us up and set us on our way.

We visited Shukkeien Garden, a former private garden of the local Daimyo. Very beautiful oasis in the city, and clearly the place to get your wedding photos taken as we saw three separate parties doing so. At one stage we were overrun by pigeons who were interested in the carp feed, needless to say the carp were in large numbers too.

Then over to Hiroshima Castle where we climbed to the top of the (very faithful) reconstruction to see the views over the city. We also spotted the oncoming rain clouds and were not surprised to be caught up in the downpour.

Before heading out to dinner we stopped off at the Game Taito Station so that Nori could teach us a thing or two about drumming - just look at those arms go.

Then to dinner at Sanbi where we met Nori's mother. A very* nice meal followed, with some delicious** sakes and shochu to accompany. Lovely sashimi, miso beef and much much more. Thank you.
