So long balcony garden

There will be no more balcony garden and street art photos for a little while. We’re away up north, to give me a little respite. And next week to allow me to do some writing.

We had a smooth journey up the A9 and then turned off to head for Fortrose where I had spied an excellent looking bistro. It was indeed excellent, and busy, although not too busy to accommodate us for a late lunch. On the way up from Edinburgh, and again after lunch, we saw every type of weather, including rain, snow, hail and sunshine.

Having settled into the cottage we took a short walk down to the shore to take a few photographs, but in the end I took a blip out of the cottage window in the evening light. The other entertainment this evening comprised trains. To get to the cottage from the road, we had to cross a private level crossing, and before opening the gates Mr A had to make a call on the telephone which apparently connected him to the Edinburgh signal centre who gave us approval to cross in the car. So the train line (Inverness - Wick/Thurso) runs very close to the cottage, and there are occasional trains up and down. Well, since we arrived, there have been two going north and two going south, and as far as I can see from the timetable one further train going north, which goes all the way to Thurso this evening.

It is, of course, incredibly quiet here (apart from the hum of the central heating system and the birds outside). There’s a little river right by the cottage, and then the firth at the bottom of the ‘garden’ which belongs to the house in the grounds of which this cottage sits. And across the river, on someone else’s land, I guess, there are sheep. All very bucolic.

I’ve added an extra of the firth. I like the shapes the land and the cloud made.
