Empty like...

This chap in Edinburgh looked lost.

I wonder if he knows what he is looking for.

I hope he finds it if he does.

Does anybody really know what they are looking for. Or do we only realise our search when we find it and get that feeling of fulfilment.

Or at the opposite end of the search cycle - emptiness when we loose it. But if you feel empty when you loose that thing you have been searching for, or for that matter always had and it never occurred to you that you might loose it.

Then perhaps you have always been empty.

Empty like a chandelier with every candle burning down to the nib in a crowded room. Empty like a drunk full of drink making plans to apologise for everything. Empty like those 50 things you liked today on Facebook.

Empty.

Empty like Sherlock Holmes. Who's always looking, always searching and always feeling nothing, when he thinks he's found what it is he's looking for.

Next time, that's what he always says under his breath away from the crowd and narrator.

Next time I will have my fill!
