Xena, 2006-2022

We lost our Warrior Princess today. She was with us for 16 years, and it is very weird and silent here without her. Our grandchildren, who are now respectable adults, were just little kids when we all piled into the car to go to the shelter to choose a cat. We all have great memories of playing with a slew of kittens til we found Xena and her brother, Rhubarb. They were an important part of our family for all these years. Rhubarb passed about a year ago, and our girl suddenly came into her own as the queen of the roost. She grew friendlier and more affectionate, and she finally became a lap cat. Her tail made an appearance in every zoom meeting since the pandemic. We laid her to rest in the backyard, next to her brother, and I miss her fiercely.

It is so hard to make the decision to put a pet down. Xena had an incurable condition, and it was time. The vet and her assistant came to the house, and were very supportive and kind.
