Paris

Waking up to a view of green fields and trees next to the pub car park to find that 3 more camper vans had joined us overnight. But the pub was closed, so no toilet facilities available. So we drove about a mile or two to Morrison’s car park to stock up on a couple of things and use their facilities. We do have a toilet and shower in The Duke but I don’t like using them if we don’t have to because of the extra cleaning and disposal required. In any case we wanted to get an early start in case there were long queues on the approach to the Channel Tunnel as had been predicted. As it happened there were no queues and we got there early enough to be able to cross an hour earlier.
After 30 mins we drove off the train onto the smooth roads of France. We took the motorway to save time past neon yellow fields of rapeseed and many windmills. We will park up for the night in a designated site called “Sandaya”before heading into Paris by train and then take the Metro to see Jessie, our friend from Texas who now lives in Paris with her husband Severin.

We had a lovely wander around the 5th Arrondissement of Paris taking in the lively vibe and catching up with Jessie . It took a while to find a table in the square for a pre-dinner drink and later on we moved on to our dinner reservation at a delightful French Restaurant.

This photo of Jessie was taken with David outside the “Panthéon”. For a minute I thought I might be in Rome! But this is a much newer Pantheon built in 1764 by King Louis XV. It started out as a church but later became a monument to war heroes and famous people, who are buried here.
