Dutch Man

A nice relaxing day. After a delicious scrambled egg and mushrooms breakfast cooked by David, he went on a bike ride to Delft while I was able to do some laundry and cleaning before relaxing in the sun with a book.
It was market day in Delft so lots of activity and people and bikes milling around, so I’m glad I didn’t have to navigate all that! But David was able to find a couple of things we wanted. He also got me a gel seat cover to see if that makes cycling more comfortable for me.

In the afternoon we walked back into Delft and tried some Frites with Pindasaus, which is a traditional Dutch snack, then looked around the market again. This is where we passed by this typical Dutch man with his pipe and hat and blue eyes. He was very happy for me to photograph him.

David had made a reservation for us to have an Indonesian meal called a Rijstafel. It consists of multiple small tasty dishes of meats and vegetables in different sauces and various toppings. In our haste to get started on this culinary adventure, we made the mistake of entering a Thai restaurant instead, which was a couple of doors away. They seated us and brought out a tasty TomKaGai soup without even showing us a menu! We knew this to be a classic Thai dish, so were perplexed, until David realized the mistake! We quickly excused ourselves, paid for the soup and left to enjoy our Indonesian meal! It was very good and we learned a lot about Indonesia while we were waiting for our dinner from a decorative map by our table.
Then had a cold walk home once the sun had gone down.
