Asset declaration

At the end of last week we learned that there was a new tax form in Spain on which everyone (not just expats) has to declare their foreign assets, and that it had to be filed online by the end of April. Panic! So today we went round the corner to the only Gestor in the village to ask him to file it for us. He hadn't heard of the form applying to foreigners, so he's taken a few details and will email us later this week when he's had a chance to do some research.

So if anyone reading this lives in Spain and still has a property in the UK, you'd better do something about it as the penalties for failing to declare properly are very steep.

p.s. There's no UK equivalent of a Gestor, who is an experienced although I believe unqualified person who is able to help you deal with Spanish officialdom... of which there is a lot!
